A few decades (aka “weeks” in 2025 lingo) ago on KJZZ’s The Show, I had the pleasure of rapping with Jason Woodbury about the legacy of David Lynch. I loved the way Jason captured Lynch’s ability to pluck every string of the emotional guitar. But, thanks to the vagaries of live radio, there were a couple points we didn’t get to discuss. So last week, I aired this follow-up, which was also an excuse to write about the time I accidentally interviewed a January 6th rioter.
Nathan DeGrave, who claims he was one of the first people through the Capitol doors on January 6th, 2021, was one of the J6-ers pardoned by President Trump. But when DeGrave and I spoke last December, he wasn’t yet sure what the future held. As you’ll hear, now that his record is “clean,” he has big plans.
Speaking of unexpected connections…KJZZ favorite Amanda Kehrberg stopped by the studio recently to talk about the new season of Severance. And as they often do with Amanda, things got trippy in the best possible way. Before I knew it, we were talking about SpongeBob, Foucault, and the exertion of state power on the human body. If you haven’t yet taken the Severance plunge, I humbly submit this spoiler-free conversation as an enticement to experience one of the most eerily funny TV shows since…well, Twin Peaks.
Thank you, as always, for reading and listening. Remember: the woods may be dark and deep, but we have promises to keep.
